Aguilar held firm behind his fellow statesman for a couple of laps, but he
eventually leap-frogged a couple of positions, moving into eleventh place. Dur-
Aguilar had climbed all the way up to second place in the class with only one lap to go, but a mistake com-
ing out of the final corner forced him back to fourth position at the line, sixth overall. In the second race, the Californian masterfully applied the power of his YZF-R6 as he managed to work his way past seven riders on the opening lap, placing him in tenth position. Aguilar rode the first third of the race behind Suzuki’s Brandon Paasch, but he eventually made his move on the rookie
on the eighth lap. It was a masterclass of overtaking maneuvers and outright speed as he continued to work his way up the order, finding himself in sixth place overall behind Nick McFadden with only a couple of laps to go. In an important championship swing, Aguilar made the move on the Kentuckian and put himself in second position in the class, scoring his third podium position of the season.
