When the weekend began to commence, Mitchell earned the 14th spot in the qualifying sessions
on the peaked circuit. Lining up for the first race of the day, Oldenburg lined up inside for the
Talladega-style first turn and came few turns near 15th. Battling in a pack full of hungry competitors all wanting to devour the spot in front of them, the #42 KTM slowly picked off the few racers in front him proving his hunger to be superior. Midway through the moto, Mitchell made his way up to 13th and began working on 12th before running into an unknown issue forcing him to fall back to 37t before regaining his composure and finishing the race. Nowhere near the type of repeat performance they were looking for from last weekend, Oldenburg and the team did their due diligence as he came out much better in moto two holding down 12th early on. Within the 1st few laps, Oldenburg loses a spot to Osborne to fall to 13th where he settled for a bit. Able to hold his ground and move forward, Oldenburg moved back into 12th after McElrath went down to reobtain his starting position. With the first half of the moto completed, Oldenburg remained fairly stationary in moto two while the bikes danced and continued to stretch over the continuous incredibly-monstrous leaps that littered the track. Taking home 37-12 moto finishes for 18ths overall, the team well head back to the test track with work to do to get back to their 10th place homeland. With round two of five completed, there’s much for Oldenburg to accomplish before the team makes their final decision.
