Fast Freddie Noren has always been strong in the outdoor series and seems to have found his groove again after a solid outing at the opener in Hangtown. The Swedish rider has put in a countless amount of laps practicing at Glen Helen and that translated to a pretty good nineteenth fastest lap time among
the quickest of the privateers. Noren would get out to a decent start in moto number one coming out of lap one in eleventh place. However, he would be unable to match the intensity of the other riders in the first few laps and he would fall back to fourteenth by lap four. But once the early race adrenaline wore off, Noren was able to get back into his groove. He slowly began to put out some consistent lap times and start chipping away at the riders in front of him. He made the move on Justin Bogle for thirteenth and then moved into twelfth because of a downed Justin Barcia at about the halfway point. From there he put together a consistent ride staying and finishing in twelfth place. Moto two got off to a rough start for Noren as he would get the green flag in thirtieth place. Buried very deep in the field it was time for Noren to show what kind of fight he has. He put his head down and impressively pushed all the way up to nineteenth in just the matter of a couple laps! He was on a mission but ran into a bit of a wall for the next few laps. He sat in nineteenth but found his stride again midway slicing away at more positions and moving into fifteenth with five minutes to go. Noren was clocking much faster lap times than the riders around him late in the race and it helped him get one more rider, Andrew Short, before the race ended. He would finish in fourteenth tallying 12-14 moto scores for twelfth overall. That is right about where we expect the Swede but he is more than capable of being a top ten guy if he can get a great start.
