JEREMY MARTIN
IMAGE/JACKEDWARDS
As a child, dirt dusted on your fingertips as you rail your model moto-bike over the hand carved track you’ve created in your pit while waiting for your last race of the day, you wonder what it would be like to race with the world’s best and dawn a #1 plate that proved you had earned your spot in the history books. Looking at Jeremy Martin and last weekend, what you fail to realize as a kid is the
true tests that accompany defending a title in such an absurdly competitive class. In fact, J. Mart wasn’t so hot in Hangtown finishing the day with a 3-9 scorecard earning him 5th overall. Yeah, 5th isn’t so bad but with each moto being counted, Martin expects to slim down the crookedness and turn the numbers into a vertical line that matches that of his Star Racing Yamaha. With the likes of Savatgy, Webb and even his brother, Alex having finished ahead of him, Martin is already on an uphill climb to reclaim the driver seat by seasons end and hopes for the hill climb of Glen Helen to be the first step in the right direction.
