the field on a snow bound, white camouflage Honda in honor of military appreciation weekend. With California natives, Mike Alessi and Weston Peick playing roles of Tom and Jerry out front, the cat and mouse game slowed their pace, allowing Canard to pass the #800 and ride Peick’s back wheel. Trey would then settle in and obtain the second slot, advancing to the main event.
Rounding the first corner in ninth for the 450 main event, Canard had a relatively open path down the inside of the first rhythm section. He was able to triple on to the final tabletop and leap into third position for the remainder of lap one. Pressured heavily by Ken Roczen, he kept the RCH rider at bay until lap twelve, when the German made his move. Slipping to fourth, he was placing his best effort to sustain the position, holding off a blistering Eli Tomac and Jason Anderson in tow.
With the New Mexico native nipping at Canard’s rear tread, Trey stumbled and allowed the Husqvarna rider to push him wide, sliding the Oklahoman to fifth. Although the wrath of the number three was most certainly felt, Canard remained poised and took home
fifth; a strong finish for the Honda rider, and definitely something to build on as the series moves to Arlington.
