CHRIS ALLDREDGE
For a countless number of reasons, Supercross is currently at the height of its existence. Unlike the outdoor nationals, spectators have no concern about getting their shoes muddy, sweating through their shirts, or viewing the track. Supercross makes it all around easier for families, company owners, and even celebrities to enjoy the race atmosphere. Every spectator has a
seat and can comfortably view the race while enjoying a variety of different food and beverage choices from the concessions within the stadium. The bar to bar racing, massive jumps and spectacular crashes are all apart of what makes attending a Supercross so desirable. In addition, there is also now a convenient TV package that airs each race live on Saturday nights. Being the pinnacle of the sport one would think that amateurs would mainly focus on just preparing for Supercross. But up until recently there were no amateur SX events. Amateurs graduating into professional racing are taking a big step that also comes along with a major learning curve. The races are longer, the competition is faster and the intensity is higher. Chris Alldredge was on the cusp of all of this, turning pro before the amateur SX changes and requirements were put into effect. Now riders have to complete the “Road to Supercross” in order to receive their SX pro license, unlike Alldredge who simply advanced due to his impressive amateur career.
