entirety of the four laps, pressing his way past both Jo Shimoda and Hammaker in only two laps, leapfrog-
ging his way into the lead. His superior speed carried him to a gap of three and a half seconds by the time the checkered flag was flown and his confidence was right where it needed to be heading into the main event. The main event was practically a carbon copy of the heat race as Brown found himself sitting behind Hammaker and Shimoda on the opening lap. The KTM rider fought his way into second position in the early stages of the race and spent a couple of laps stalking Shimoda in the lead, biding his time until the right opportunity pre- sented itself. He made the pass into the lead on the third lap and never looked back, doing his best to ignore the revs from the Honda in tow as he chased down the checkered flag. He crossed the finish line with just an advantage of just over one second and although it was his smallest margin of victory throughout the day, it may have been his most impressive victory.
