2018 was an atypical year for Jett Reynolds. The Californian got off to his normal routine of winning and winning often at the begin- ning of the season, racking up podiums and titles at both the Daytona RCSX and the JS7 Freestone Spring Championship, but the overarching plan for his season changed in an instant at the California Classic. Reyn- olds sustained a serious injury that sidelined him throughout the majority of the summer, forcing him out of an opportunity to qual-
ify for the Loretta Lynn Amateur National Championship in August. It marked the first year since 2013 that the Team Green Kawa-
saki rider was not on the top step of the po- dium at the Ranch, therefore switching the focal point of his season to his comeback race at Monster Energy Cup. Reynolds won the highly competitive Supermini division in 2017 as one of the youngest competitors
to do so, compiling 1-2 finishes in order to come away with the title. After months off of the bike, the Californian was training at his private track only days before the event and encountered a broken wrist that put him back on the sidelines for the remainder of the year.
