The Kawasaki rider slowly pulled away lap-by-lap and ended up building a gap of more than three seconds by the time he reached the checkered flag, sending him into the main event with an opti- mal gate pick and his first number one plate of the new season within his reach. The gate dropped on the main event and there was a Team Dunlop Elite shuffle taking place at the front of the pack as DiFrances- co settled in behind Haiden Deegan. He kept his wits about him and rode with utmost composure on the opening lap, waiting patiently to find an opportunity in which he could pass for the lead. The opportunity presented itself on the second lap and DiFrancesco seized it tremendously, putting himself out front with four laps to go. He did an exceptional job of managing the race from that point onward and built a slight advantage ahead of his closest rivals, meeting the checkered flag with an advantage of more than three
