He knew that he couldn’t afford another poor start in the main event and was seri- ously determined to get out front early, placing immense amounts of focus on the next gate drop. Although he didn’t pull the holeshot, he gave himself a much better chance at taking the win by starting in third position on the opening lap. Mumford disposed of Tre Fierro on lap one and immediately set his sights on Wyatt Lyonsmith in the lead by the end of the second lap, plotting the best place on the racetrack to make his move into the lead. He found the right opportunity on the fourth lap and jumped into the lead as he kept his head down and charged towards the checkered flag, ultimately taking the victory by nearly five seconds at the finish line.
