Egan Mastin was on another level than his competition in the Open Pro Sport class on Saturday. His best lap time was approximately 2 seconds better than any of his rivals. He nailed his starts in both the 1st and 2nd motos and put himself right up front from the start of the race, rocketing to the lead rather
quickly. Once the Australian got into his rhythm, he couldn’t be stopped. He has an effortless riding style which makes it seems as though he’s out on a trail ride, but smooth is fast, especially on a choppy track such as High Point on Saturday. He managed a 2nd behind Ashton Hayes in the last moto and earned the 1st overall position over the weekend. Mastin had a mediocre 250 A effort compared to the incredible rides that he put in during the Open Pro Sport class. He finished 2nd in the opening moto, and fought to 3rd with no goggles in a rain-stricken 2nd moto - one of the last motos before the hour long rain delay. He had his worst moto of the weekend during the last 250 A moto, taking a 6th place finish, but he still did enough to get a 4th overall and earn his spot at The Ranch at the beginning of August.
