Jake Impens is making the step up to the A class for the 2016 racing season after having a decent year in the B class throughout 2015. He finished 4th overall in 450 B at Loretta’s and struggled in the 250 B class after experiencing bad luck and suffering bike problems. He also managed a pair of top 10 finishes at Mini-O’s
in both Motocross and Supercross in 2014 in the 450 B Limited class. The 16 year old rider out of Brick, NJ
spends his time training at South of the Border MX in order to step his riding up to another level. A riding facility like South of the Border allows Impens to mix it up with top professional 250 riders that come and train at the facility between nationals. This year he’ll be challenging for Loretta’s glory in both the Open Pro Sport and College Boy classes as he looks to improve upon his 4th place finish from last year and stand on the box for the first time at the Amateur National Championships. His form has been on point thus far in his qualifiers, finishing on the overall podium in 4 out of 6 classes that he has contested. Impens has put in some solid results on the road to Loretta’s this year, but still struggles to make ends meet as a full-time racer with limited support. He’ll be more determined than ever to put in a good result at Loretta’s this year in the A class and attract the attention of some of the factory amateur squads going into next season.
