MARSHALL WELTIN
the JustinBarcia.com yamaha rider made his professional Supercross debut last weekend in atlanta. Finishing in 15th as a privateer in your first ever Supercross is a feat that will turn heads for this young racer. Hailing from the small Michigan City of Ubly in the “thumb” of the mitten state, Weltin has come a long way to get to this point in his career. Many successful professional racers will often help out the next generation of up and coming riders. Justin Barcia saw something in Marshall and took it a step further by sponsoring and mentoring him into the pro ranks.
This unprecedented relationship proved to be the right choice for both parties, as the #89 has provided a top 15th result already. Having the knowledge and the race craft techniques of a top level pro at his disposal, Weltin put his head down and trained hard during the off season to be prepared. This type of relationship only works if the protégé is willing to sacrifice and listen, which isn’t a problem with Marshall. Fans are seeing what Justin Barcia saw all along, which is a fast racer with a good head on his shoulders. Everyone should be waiting for many teams to take note of this extremely talented rookie.
