trying to learn the beast of the track that Daytona is, weltin was only able to put the 28th fast- est lap in practice. the radical hybrid track which combines the roughest parts of Supercross and Motocross often trips up racers for the first time. learning the rhythm of the unusual track design, the JustinBarcia.com yamaha rider was only able to finish 12th in the main which sent him to the lCQ for the night. the last chance qualifier did not go as planned for the privateer weltin. Marshall was involved in a first turn pileup that left him in some visible pain. any crash in a lCQ will make it almost impossible to qualify, but a crash in the first turn is a death sentence for a position to make the cut. after a strong showing in last week’s main event this is a devastating result for the talented rookie.
