Malcolm Stewart came into Daytona ready to win after going down while running a close second at the season opener in atlanta a week ago. Malcolm was able to throw down the 3rd best 250 qualifying time of the day and appeared to have the confidence and aggression
needed to get a win on a grueling Daytona course.
Malcolm started his heat race with a third place start and actually briefly got passed early on lap one by Dakota Alix before getting the position right back. After distancing himself from Alix, Malcolm went after Justin Hill in 2nd place. He shadowed Hill and moved into 2nd rather quickly on lap three. With Hill now behind, Malcolm put on a charge to catch race leader and his Geico Honda teammate RJ Hampshire. He put together three very quick laps to end the race but came up just short of stealing the win from Hampshire. Malcolm was able to pick up on some key lines in the heat and was more than ready to contend for the win in the main event.
