Perfectly controlling this champion- ship, Dungey is faced with a track that is known to shake things up each season. Having won here before, The Red Bull KTM rider knows what it takes to come out of this race victorious. Ryan logged the third fastest lap in practice which was only a half of a second off of the fastest lap of the night. After a decent start in his heat race, Dungey found himself behind Josh Grant in the opening laps in the heat race. Dungey made quick work of Grant to put himself into second place. On any other given night, Ryan would have been
able to charge ahead to battle for the lead. This night was different because Factory Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac was out front and absolute- ly flawless. The reigning champ found himself in an unusual posi- tion, which was just off the pace
of the leader. Ryan held a strong second place to finish out the heat, and give him a great gate pick for the points paying race.
