VINCE FRIESE
Vince Friese is a danger to himself and others. He doesn’t belong on the track. He should just quit. Everybody hates him. At least, this is what you might think if you only listened to the broadcast com-
mentators or some of the moto legends who chime in their opinions on the current riders. Most of the time, these comments are generally positive, maybe even too P.C. And this generality doesn’t seem to apply to Vince. Is Trey Canard any less dangerous on the track? Is Zach Bell? What about being in front of Tyler Bowers? Riders like Bowers, Peick, and “Bam-Bam” Barcia have often been celebrated for their aggressive styles, their “passionate” riding. When does that passion become uncool? When you mix it up with riders that are more popular than you, apparently. People, mostly faster riders, hate when slower riders are in the way (possibly even more than quad riders). And if you think about it, most of the shade being thrown Vince’s way was thrown strongest by fast riders of the sport; Windham, Emig, and RC (plus anyone who’s had to pass him). It’s true, one of the most frustrating things about racing is being stuck behind a slower rider. And as a racer, it’s hard / nearly impossible to take a step back and appreciate the rider you’re stuck behind. It even sounds ridiculous. However, the fact that they are there, at the same event, in the same class, and you know, up to the point when you catch them, they’re doing better than you! It’s admittedly hard to say, but can’t you diss the effort. At most you should just be annoyed by it because at the end of the day, that slower rider is out there chasing the same dream, risking his neck for a lot less money that the guys who hate him are /were making. Unfortunately, Vince often finds himself in front of faster riders. But Vince Friese doesn’t belong on the track!?
Please. 2013; 4th overall SX Lites East on a privateer ride. 2014; 3rd Overall on a non-factory team. 2015; a totally consistent and decent Supercross season in both SX and SX Lites and a very solid 2nd overall
