GRANT HARLAN
“Cool G” has become an absolute threat, every time he steps behind the gate on the amateur national motocross circuit. A skillful assassin from Texas, he’s used his diligent practice efforts, to translate into top finishes, on the highest of levels. On both motocross, and Supercross layouts, Harlan has shown that he has the ability to be a contender, no matter what the racing surface, or layout can provide. Throughout the week last year at the Winter Olympics event, Harlan could be found littering the top ten, with numerous finishes on the podium. All throughout the B classes, his mantra was repeated at the beginning
of 2018, where he heisted the competi- tion on his Yamaha stallion, and held his opposition at will. He walked out of the Freestone championship, with numerous medals and solid results, leaving everyone to ponder just how much more he can rise, come time for the Loretta Lynn’s National Championship this summer.
MIKAYLA NIELSEN
When looking at athletes of all genre of sport, you’re quick to notice that stay within their realm of comfort. Soaking up victories against lesser competi- tion, or testing themselves against the younger portion of their peers. But then there are those true, gritty gladia- tors, who are always searching for the toughest task out. Mikayla Nielsen is the latter, and she proved by example, that she’s willing to do whatever necessary, in order to the best in her classification. She signed up for a
total of three classes, the 85cc 9-12 Yrs, Womens AM (12+) and the Girls (9-13). Diving head first into the murky waters of a male-dominant division, she came away with flying colors; even placing in the top ten in the final moto! An eleventh overall was astonishing, but she wanted more. And she would receive yet another highly-contested rivalry, in that of the eldest Women’s division; she would walk away with an applaud-worthy sixth overall. Last but not least, she would clean sweep, the Girls 9-13 class, leaving no question
to how dominant of a force she was. She’s rolling into the summer months with a surge of confidence, looking to win at the highest of levels.
