WYATT MATTSON
Hailing from El Dorado Hills, Califor- nia, Wyatt Mattson is living example of his town’s identity. “El Dorado”, which is based off an old, “City of Gold” phenomenon in South Africa, goes hand in hand with the young KTM pilot’s mentality. That’s all
he can dream of, salivating at the thought of hard-work, and dedication, to persevere for that relic of a cham- pionship. He carried that focus into the FMF Cal Classic, where he was to be found in consistent battle with the toughest competition. Multiple top fives, and not one finish outside of the top ten, in the Mini Sr. division’s, had him walking with two fifth place overall’s. He doesn’t want to be sim- ply known as a “west coast prodigy”, therefore, both he and team, plan to trek far and wide, to make their pres- ence felt. With the backing from his crew, and the attitude of a champion, let’s see what he has in store for the remainder of 2018.
GAGE WILCOX
Contrary to his first name, Gage Wil- cox seems to truly shoot from the hip. His riding style doesn’t include much “spotting up”, or second-guessing himself; it’s simply a one-track path, and the throttle twisted. Although a risky game to play, it’s worked for Mr. Wilcox up until this point in his career, and there wasn’t anything else to be expected, come time for the FMF Cal Classic event this year. Competing all throughout the 85cc (12-14) divi- sions, Wilcox was noticeable, even
to the naked eye viewing from the fence line. The way he could run from outside to outside, all the while never letting off the gas. His shifts were
on the most precise timing, nailing section after section, and ultimately ending up with outstanding finishes. A seventh, sixth, third, and second, would leave him as one of the most highly sought after prospects, once the event was over. Sponsors and media seem to be knocking down his door, and it’s well deserved, as we’re all curious to know a bit more about this young star.
