A steep up hill start covered in chocolate cake dirt had all the fantasy motocross players picking a JGR Yamaha rider for a holeshot. When the gate dropped for 450 moto one at Muddy Creek it was a wave of blue as the pack raced into the first turn. All three JGR Yamaha riders started inside the top five and non other than Phil Nicoletti was in the lead. Phil battled it out with Cole Seely in the opening laps until set- tling in behind the HRC Honda rider. Running the pace every lap and even holding off the current points leader Ken Roczen for a lap or so, Phil was looking great until being taken out by his teammate Justin
Barcia. The two came together in a corner when their lines intersected and caused them to collide and both go down. After slowly rebounding and knocking the dirt off of his handle bars, Nicoletti put on a hard charge and worked back to 10th place before the checkered flag. Moto 2 did not start off as well for Nicoletti, getting cut off in the first turn and starting the race deep in the field. Unable to make up a ton of ground, the JGR Yamaha rider worked up to 18th before having a crash half way into the race that
unfortunately caused him to pull off. 10-38 scores on the day gave Nicoletti 15th overall.
