JEFF COX
Alex Frye got his day started in the sloppy, muddy track inside Gilette stadium by going out and notching the 14th fastest qualifying time. It was a good showing by the rookie on a very tough course
and was ready for a much drier track come race time. Frye has been good out of the gate so far this year and he kept that trend going in Foxboro. He got out of the gate in good position coming around lap one in third place. Unable to catch the two leaders, Frye would stay in that position all the way up until the last lap when Aaron Plessinger snuck by and took the third place finish away. Even though Frye got pushed back to fourth, it was still an impressive ride and set him up nicely for the main event.
Frye could not manage to get another good start in the main event. He opened up the race in the middle of the field in twelfth place. Not where he was expecting to be so he started to put in a charge. He quickly made a few moves getting up into ninth place early on in the race. He looked good on the very rough and difficult track but it would come up and bite him. He went down in the second half of the race entering a rhythm section upending his race. His good ride would be blemished with a disappointing nineteenth place finish. He has two more rounds in his rookie season to keep it on two wheels and finish inside the top ten where he belongs.
