Vann Martin came into Foxboro with only one main event to his name so far this season. He was hoping the new venue would give him a fresh start and help him get back into the main event. He initially struggled in practice but that was likely due to the muddy mess it was due to the rain from
the previous night. He qualified twenty-fourth and looked forward to a drier track for the night show. Martin did not get the start he needed in the heat race coming around lap one buried in thirteenth place. But instead of settling back there, he started moving forward. He looked to mesh well on the drier track making a few moves. He clawed up to tenth place by the end of the race and would fall just short of the final transfer spot. However Paul Coates finished eighth but jumped on a Red Cross flag docking him back to tenth bumping Martin into the ninth and final transfer. He finally got the stroke of luck he needed and was ready to compete in the main. The main event did not begin the way Martin would have liked as he went down in the first turn. He was able to remount and with nothing to lose being so far behind the field, he put his head down and just put in laps. By the midway point he had already climbed back into the picture and up into seventeenth place about halfway. His charge stalled out for a bit but he was able to sneak in one more pass at the end of the race to complete the charge. It was a great ride from behind and a season best finish of sixteenth place. Martin will aim to continue his momentum he built in Gillette into the final two rounds of the series.
