Residing in eighth place on the opening grid, Baggett knew he had his work cut out for himself prior to
the gate drop of heat one. The position didn’t play into his favor, due to the fact that these heat races are
polar opposite of the outdoor format he prefers. Seventh across the chalk, Baggett followed the train that lay ahead through- out the opening moments. Seventh became sixth, and eventually fifth, as a Vince Friese’ tumble would allow the “chupacabra” briefly into the top five. Glancing over his shoulder across the finish, however, would reveal the green blur of Eli Tomac. Although a remarkable effort, he would eventually succumb to the number 3, falling to sixth; he would finish here, granting him a ticket to the semi. A third place start in semi two would present Blake in a dual with Josh Grant in the beginning stages. A few mistakes, however, would allow the number 51 of Justin Bar- cia to come within striking distance, and the Kawasaki of Grant to slip away. The Yoshimura Suzuki couldn’t seem to obtain traction following the collapsing of the pin for the main event, as Baggett hit the initial rhythm section in a disappointing sixteenth place.
He was in a flurry of chaos, finding himself pinched between Mike Alessi and Justin Barcia for a large portion of the first half. Tearoffs con- stantly flew, dirt filling the helmet, and Baggett clamping on his mouthpiece for all she had. Shuffling near the twelfth place position for the majority of the main, Baggett eyed Weston Peick with five to go; his stamina looking superb to many of those around him. The twelfth would be his ending result, finishing just behind the number 28. With the Supercross season coming to a close, Baggett looks to add some momen- tum in Vegas, and prepare for the outdoor campaign.
