Man Charged With Eating Woman’s Pet Fish, Taunting Her With Feces Text Message
A Monmouth County man was arrested by police in Louisiana on Tuesday after he allegedly ate a woman’s pet fish at her LSU dorm two years ago and then taunted her with a text, according to reports.
Maxwell Taffin, 21, who has a Rumson address, was charged with cruelty to ani- mals and improper tele- phone commu- nications after the woman received a text from his phone of a picture of a feces-filled toilet accompanied by
the message “found your fish,” a story by WBRZsaid.

reported that Taffin is a grad- uate of Rumson-Fair Haven High School.
An arrest war- rant from the LSU police in Baton Rouge stated that the woman allowed her ex-boyfriend and some of his friends, one of which was Taffin, to stay at her dorm the weekend of a football game in 2016, the WBRZ story said
When she returned to her room on Oct. 22, 2016, she allowed Taffin to re-enter to get some of his belongings. As he quickly left the room he reportedly told her to “check your fish tank," the report said.
“Yeah, I’ll be honest with you. I ate [the vic- tim’s] fish,” Taffin told police, accord- ing to an affi- davit obtained by news organi- zation.
He denied send- ing the feces text.
