Page 9 - FS-Scaredy Cat
P. 9
As cats go, it was a pretty good jump, not fancy but she did land on her feet. Carmen looked very proud of herself and said, “Next I will go to the top and jump down.”
I walked over to Carmen, looked her right into her yellow eyes and said, “Carmen lets not get foolish. If you climb to the top and jump, you might get really hurt, as would just about any cat. But you might get to the top and become so scared that this old, overweight crow will have to fly up there and carry you down. We don’t want either of those things to happen, now do we?”
Carmen looked a little more confident and I hoped she learned a good lesson. “If others can do it than so can I, if I try.” But at the same time she does not need to do anything foolish like jump out of the top of a tree.
Maybe next week I can get her to climb about half way up and then slowly come down. Once she learns that nothing terrible is going to happen, she will be more willing to do things that are necessary for cats to do.
