They looked to the sea where Unicorn Island had been. Now, there was only still water and a slowly disappearing cloud of smoke high above where the island had been.
The herd of ancient horses wondered what this meant. Their leader, Great Gray, turned to the herd and said, “Many years ago we banished the unicorns from our herd because of their hateful ways. Today, it seems that even their island has had enough of their gossiping and hateful behaviors.”
So that is why there are no unicorns, I said to the leader of the wild horses.
The leader then said, “Cosmos, I can only tell you that this story has been told for many generations. It does make sense that we would not want to associate with others who make fun of and gossip about us. Even if at times it seems funny or harmless, if you get into a habit of doing it, you will be hurtful and eventually, you will be banished.”
Well, that made sense to me. I thanked them all and with a new story, headed home.
