Page 21 - Ugly Unicorn

EXERCISE
Wouldn’t it be great if you could be like the unicorn and every time you did something “not nice” you would get a bump on your forehead. If you kept doing “not nice” things, it would continue to grow until you had a little pointy horn. Then, when you looked in the mirror, you would see the horn and remind yourself that you needed to stop being “not nice” so that the ugly horn would go away. Well, that is just not going to happen. You are going to have to work much harder than that to stop any “not nice” behavior and avoid becoming a banished unicorn.
First, you have to start paying more attention to the things you do that might be “not nice.”
Ask yourself:
Would I like it if someone said (what I am about to say) about me? If someone said that about me, would I be angry, embarrassed or sad? If someone said that about me, would I think that they were being not nice?
If you answer yes to any of these questions, then you are about to be “not nice.” Now ask yourself:
What was the Stinky Thinking causing me to say or do that “not nice” behavior?
Was I trying to be hurtful toward that person?
Was I trying to make myself look important or smart or whatever? Was I trying to get attention from others with my “not nice” behavior?
