Springtime Always Brings a Jumble of LSU Athletics News
By: Eldon Ledoux
My name is on this, not because I have any expertise, but simply because some of what found its way into the article is based on my opinions. So I may as well own up to them.
This time of year always finds some collegiate sports seasons winding down, while others are just getting started and the grand-daddy of collegiate sports in Baton Rouge - LSU Football - is again just beginning to regroup and recover from graduations and NFL early departures with spring drills underway. With a new Offensive Coordinator and a seeming move toward a “west coast offense” (whatever that will look like). We hope the Bayou Bengals field a championship caliber team this fall. As my 91 year old mother is prone to remind me about any number of topics, “Well ... it’s early, yet.”
Again, LSU Gymnastics is on a roll (really bad pun, but intentional). The Lady Tigers swept the SEC, winning all conference meets and earning the SEC Season Championship and Tournament titles for the “double, double,” as repeat winners of each. Coach D-D Breaux’s team is bound for NCAA regional action (which will have taken place by the time you read this) with our hopes that the Lady Tiger gymnasts can bring an overall national title to Baton Rouge along with a number of individual crowns.
It’s great that LSU Gymnastics is no longer the best kept secret in town, as the Lady Tigers have been performing to packed houses at the PMAC. It’s long been what Linda and I have viewed as the best
