When Mad Boy came to bat, he was still upset. I could hear him telling himself, All these other kids are losers and I have to do it all myself.
When it was his turn to bat, his anger was obvious. Rather than helping him hit the ball harder, his anger caused him to try too hard.
As fast as you could say “one, two, three,” he had stuck out.
