I think you are getting the idea that peer pressure has to do with control. Negative peer pressure has to do with others trying to get you to do something that is not in your best self-interest. In our story, the Owl did not want the garden changed because he liked eating the mice. He was not concerned about the Young Girl. He wanted her to think she was stupid so that he could control her.
In your real world, this type of situation may happen to you. You may not be sure how to handle a situation when someone says, “This is what you should do.” Even if you think that their solution is bad, you may do it just because you are afraid that you can’t figure out a better way. You have to change that Stinky Thinking so that you can make your best choice and stick with it. The Young Girl could have done that and not be influenced by the Owl and so can you.
1. What Good Thinking could the Young Girl have had when the Owl told her that everything in the garden would die if she changed the garden?
2. What OK emotions would go with this Good Thinking? 3. What could have been her Thumbs Up behavior?
