When I looked at the one they selected, I just about fell out of the tree. I turned to my cousin and asked if he knew the name of the fruit that had just won. “Why no, I have never seen anything like it before,” he replied.
“Dear cousin,” I told him, That is because it is a pineapple. I have only seen them in the roadside markets of humans and I don’t think it grows in your jungle.”
The judges gave the trophy to the winner as there was apparent agreement that this strange fruit, that was new to all of them, was in fact, the most appealing.
They were all nodding their heads in agreement, all except Polly, who started squawking and flapping and causing quite a stir.
“That’s not fair, that’s not fair. This fruit, whatever it is! Is not from our jungle and can’t win!”
One of the judges spoke up and said, “We said nothing about the fruit having to grow in our jungle. It would be nice if this fruit grew here but it doesn’t. Even so, we all think it is the most appealing.”
