DOUBLE OVERHAND NOOSE
Purpose
This is a stronger and more secure alternative to the simple overhand noose,
better suited to larger cordage.
Tying
Make a long-ish bight in the end of the line (figure 1) and with the working end
tie a double overhand knot around the adjacent standing part (figures 2–3). Pull
the knot tight and slide it along to adjust the loop to the required size (figure 4).
