THREE-WAY SHEET BEND
Purpose
This adaptation of the common sheet bend (pages 80–81) will act as a neat bridle
to secure and hold three converging lines.
Tying
Make a bight in the thickest or stiffest of the three lines, then tie a sheet bend
layout with the other two.
Knot lore
Swedish yachting writer Frank Rosenow, a member of the International Guild of
Knot Tyers, spotted this unorthodox application of the sheet bend while cruising
in Greek waters and reported it in his book Seagoing Knots (1990).
