Dr. Ilene J. Gold and Dr. Erin Cannon (Pictured in the photo to the left) repre-
sented Nassau County Dental Society at the annual Back 2 School Store 2025,
held in August in Freeport, and sponsored by National Council of Jewish Women
of which Dr. Gold is a long time member.

This one day event helps children from underserved communities in Nassau
County by providing a “shopping” day to select school items and clothing and be

ready for their first day of school. While the children are going through the
“store”, their parents visit the Family Resource Center, a room where they re-
ceive information on health and services in the county from a wide variety of
agencies and organizations. At the NCDS exhibit, they were given demonstra-
tions on toothbrushing and flossing and handouts on the importance of dental health for adults and their
children. Dr. Gold says she has enjoyed her long-time membership in the NCDS while practicing and

volunteering, and gained much knowledge from continuing education courses offered.

Dr. Erin Cannon is a Pediatric resident at Northwell LIJ. She came to volunteer after hearing about it from
NCDS Past President, Dr. Joseph Brofsky.
