In Our Society | El Salvador Mission

NCDS Past President, Dr. Douglas Schildhaus returned from leading another successful Medical/ Dental
Mission trip with Flying Doctors of America to beautiful El Salvador on Friday March 27th. His team of
dedicated Medical and Dental personnel provided free care to over 975 people in need. In addition to
Dr, Schildhaus, our current Board Member and Secretary, Dr. John Gaeta accompanied the team. Dr.
Gaeta has participated on multiple Mission trips as well. Congratulations to both Dr. Schildhaus and Dr.
Gaeta for their outstanding and life changing work.

In Our Society | Oral Cancer Screening

On March 24th NCDS participated in the Long Island Nets’ Cross Up Cancer
Night Presented by MSK. In the picture on the left are NCDS Past President,
Dr. James Dolan, along with Northwell Dental Residents, Drs. Rachel Elkowitz,

Gabrielle Tsuker, and Vartkes Arakelian. They set up a booth in the rotunda of
the Nassau Coliseum to do free oral cancer screenings for the public who
attended the game that evening.

This is just one of example of the community outreach the Nassau County
Dental Society does to fulfill the part of it’s mission statement that says: “...to
encourage the improvement of the health of the public.”
