In Our Society | Event - GKAS
Our Give Kids A Smile event was back at the Cradle of Aviation Museum on February 10th. We saw almost
1500 children from around Nassau County giving them dental exams, oral hygiene instructions, nutritional
counseling, and where appropriate, fluoride treatments and sealants. The Lion’s Club of Long Beach was
also on hand to give the kids eye exams. In the end over $100,000 of treatment was done on the day of
the event. Over 30% of the children were identified with acute needs and arrangements are being made
for them to receive treatment, which will more than double the value of treatment from this event. Thank
you to all our 350 volunteers and to Henry Schein, Northwell/LIJ and One Brooklyn Health Hospital
systems, Stony Brook, Touro, and NYU dental schools, Farmingdale State College Hygiene Program, Farm
Fresh Dairies, Fidelis Care, Liberty Dental Plans, Patkin Photographers for our video, Jet Blue, the NY Mets,
and Sports Depot.
