Meet The Wardens

Jim Nicol

Provincial Grand Junior Warden

Jim was born on 29 September 1948 in Wilmslow, Cheshire and lived in Macclesfield with his
younger sister and brother. He was educated at Charney Hall, Grange-over Sands, then in
Lancashire and Giggleswick School in North Yorkshire. He attended the Royal Agricultural
College in Cirencester and Reaseheath, the Cheshire Agricultural College in Nantwich.
Jim moved to Somerset in November 1969 to work for the Meat and Livestock Commission in
West Buckland and changed careers to the UK Hydrographic Office in Taunton in 1973 where he
worked until he retired in 2008, he is currently employed as a casual driver for Mercedes Benz of
Taunton.
Jim is married to Veronica they have 3 children and 5 grandchildren which certainly keep them
both active.
His main hobbies are singing with Taunton Deane Male Voice Choir and playing skittles for
Home Guard 4 in the Wellington Ex-services skittle league.

He was initiated into FreeMasonry in September 1988 into the Lodge of Fidelity and Sincerity No
1966 becoming Worshipful Master in 2005.

He joined the Monument Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 1295 in 2003 and became WM in
2010. He was appointed to active Provincial Standard Bearer in 2012 and promoted to Past
Provincial Senior Overseer in 2018.

He is also a member of the Cerdic Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners 571 and a member of Royal
Arch Chapter of Fidelity No 1966, Jim has taken the Master’s chair in every Lodge/ Chapter of
which he has been a member.
