As part of mission mode projects, several groups at IGIB are involved in
tackling the problem of Sickle Cell Anemia through multiple approaches.
The latest tools in molecular biology, CRISPR and engineered Zinc Finger
nucleases for gene editing are being used to correct genetic mutations that
lead to sickle cell disease and hemoglobinopathies.
