Chapter 2: At General Hospital
We are on a family trip to General Hospital. Papa has brought Dadaji many times
now to meet the doctor here. Now we have a name for Dadaji’s condition. It is called
Ataxia –to mean a disorder of movement. Since no one was telling me what it
means I checked on Google-what ataxia means.
It is just a doctor’s word for loss of control of movement. It seems you get ataxia
when some brain cells that control our movements die. Sometimes, they may die
because of an accident. But it seems some people may also have genes that let
these neurons die too early.
Dadaji had to take tests to see if he has such a gene. Unfortunately, the results of
the test were positive. I also found out that he is not likely to take some medicines
and be declared fit. If he is anything like the regular ataxia,his symptoms are going
to get worse.
But I am not sure why the doctor wanted to meet the whole family. Papa and Mam-
ma are not talking much about it but from their looks. I know that they have talked
about it and decided something.
