Technology Corner: 2021 Q1 Updates

These are the current mandatory upgrades and recommended updates:

Mandatory Upgrade:

• WHAT: Windows 10 Version 1909 Upgrade for
all Company owned Computers.

• WHEN: Now. Self-service installation started
1/19/21 enterprise wide.

– Mandatory deployments will run from
8pm to 4am local time (occurring nightly
until all devices are upgraded).

• WHY: Annual mandatory update to maintain a
strong security posture, emerging technological
threats and provide the latest operating system
features.

• HOW: Windows 10 - How to Schedule a Win-
dows Servicing Update (southernco.com)

• WHO IS IMPACTED: Everyone who has a work
computer/laptop.

Recommended Update:

• WHAT: iOS 4.14 update for personal iPhones or iPads.

• WHEN: As Soon as Possible. This update is already available for Apple products.

• WHY: Provide critical security features to protect your data & device against a
cyberattack.

• HOW: On your device, go to Settings → General → Software Update, and update
your device to iOS 14.4. This update should take less than 30 minutes.

• WHO IS IMPACTED: All employees who have the following iOS devices: iPhone
6 (or later), iPad Air 2 (or later), iPad Mini 4 (or later), iPad Touch (7th gen.).

Note: Corporate iOS devices have already received this update.
