In the past 2 years, the ONWR has played a role in moving forward many tasks
according to the 20-year Master Plan on Water Resource Management (2018 - 2037) in
all 6 areas, after its announcement in the Royal Gazette on 18 September 2019.
Moving forward entails all water-related agencies to draft a main plan at the
river basin level, and an annual work plan. The mechanism for this is in the form of a
Sub-committee to Mobilize the Master Plan on Water Resource Management, with
the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of ONWR as chair, and the Sub-committee is to
propose the draft to the National Water Resources Committee (NWRC) for consideration
and approval. The NWRC has approved 6 plans already, namely, 1) 20-year Action
Plan on Community Wastewater with the Wastewater Management Organization
                     2) Plan to prevent community flooding, by the Department of Public Works and
Town and Country Planning 3) Action Plan for Development Projects (2019 - 2020) by
the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority 4) Action Plan on water source identification, by
Phuket Province 5) Integrated Plan for Tropical Zone Meteorology for 2019 - 2020, by Thai
Meteorological Department 6) Approach to manage water quality and water resource
                     conservation, by Pollution Control Department
The main target is to mobilize the main plan and action plans to cover all strategies,
so as to be in line with the 20-year Master Plan in a concrete manner, as well as to
develop the indicators towards sustainable and systematic management of water.
