A significant concern is climate change, which has continued to intensify these problems,severely impacting the livelihoods of the people.In 2014, the government recognized the importance of water security and the utilization of water resources, andtherefore assigned relevant water agencies to formulate the 12-Year Strategic Plan for Water Resources Management B.E. 2558 - 2569 (2015-2026). The National Water Resources Committee, pursuant to the Prime Minister%u2019s Office Regulation on National Water Resources Management B.E. 2550 (2007), was tasked with driving forward the 12-Year Strategic Plan in accordance with the specified objectives and targets. Later, in 2017, the government deemed that there was still no central agency to integrate the country%u2019s water resources management in a systematic manner, to reduce redundancy, and to ensure unity and cohesion in water resources management. Therefore, the Office of the National Water Resources was established directly under the Prime Minister, to serve as the main agency for the country%u2019s water resources management policy. Its duties include integrating data, plans, projects, budgets,as well as monitoring and evaluating performance in line with the Strategic Plan for Water Resources Management.Subsequently, in 2019, Thailand enacted the Water Resources Act B.E. 2561 (2018), which is the country%u2019s first principal legislation on water resources.
