MINOR RULES
There are a few minor school rules, most of which come under the heading of “common sense”. They exist for your
own safety, for the sake of the whole community, or simply for good order. Certain areas have their own rules, and
some rules apply only at certain times of the year, but the following rules apply to everybody:
1. You must not take or move anyone else’s possessions, or open their locker or schoolbag without the owner’s
permission.
2. All possessions must be clearly marked and left in lockers or taken home at the end of the day. Bags must
be marked on the outside and should be stored in changing lockers, classroom or designated area.
3. Ball games should be played only in designated areas with the appropriate ball. Pupils should stop and hold
the ball when they see an adult walking past their game. Be respectful.
4. The throwing of any object other than a ball is forbidden.
5. Walk in the corridors or on the stairs.
6. Do not climb trees.
7. Report any damage you may cause or find immediately to an adult.
8. Never touch the fire extinguishers.
9. The following items are NOT allowed in school:
Knives, laser pens, money, chewing gum, bubble gum, tuck, mobile phones, jewellery (other than one pair of small
plain silver or gold stud earrings) including friendship bands and bracelets, aerosols, perfume, correction fluid,
expensive toys or computer games.
10. Arrangements for any medicines needed during the school day must be organised through the medical
centre.
11. When crossing any road on the campus always use the pedestrian crossings or
footbridge.
12. The following areas are OUT OF BOUNDS without adult supervision:
All play areas, the pond, car parks; swimming pool; sports hall; Assembly Hall; changing rooms; astroturf, Science
Labs, Dutton Pitch and cricket nets.
13. Remain on the school grounds unless you are supervised by an adult.
14. Your iPad is an educational resource during the school day – no gaming or messaging.
If you need to get a message home, speak to your Group Tutor.
15. Your water bottle, should only have water in it, no other type of drink.
16. Hair that touches the shoulders should be tied up neatly, (navy / black / brown hair clips or bobbles).
17. No make-up to be worn.
18. No buying / selling / trading of goods for money.
There are three underlying principles of respect that ensure that MPS pupils benefit from their time at school and
enjoying all the school has to offer:
Respect for oneself (appearance; organisation; commitment)
Respect for others (pupils; teaching staff; non-teaching staff and visitors including their property)
Respect for their environment (classrooms; changing rooms and lavatories; grounds; boarding houses; transport and
other places visited)
All pupils are expected to respect the Code of Conduct at all times. Those showing exemplary standards of
behaviour will gain public recognition.
