CARMEN COOK…..
HOW WILL YOU HANDLE THESE CHALLENGES ?
FACING ADVERSITY
My motivation for facing adversity is remembering the love people give as well as what it means to
be a community, in times of hardship it is easy to lose hope, however when one is encouraged to
keep on fighting by those around them as well as the ones they love, challenges like Systematic Rac-
ism, the slaughter of Black people by police, as well as issues presented by the COVID-19 pandemic,
life is easier when you remember what you’re fighting for.
KEEPING YOU FAITH
At times I as well as many other people struggle with feelings of loneliness, however remembering
that God is always with you and someone always cares helps to calm these feelings as you realize
that you are never truly alone because you always have someone rooting for you/staying on your
side. Remembering this motivates me to continue going on with life and to put my best foot for-
ward, because God would want me to do so.
STAYING COMMITTED TO ACHIEVEMENT .
Growth: My greatest motivation for maintaining my academic success as well as my development
as a person both spiritually and non-spiritually is seeing how far I have come and remembering
that at one point I had no skills or talents yet I still made something of myself, and that I will contin-
ue to better myself and encourage others by representing what it means to make real progress
