Year 3 Camp -
The Zoo Snooze
On Tuesday 16th May, the Year 3 students made their way down to the Adelaide Zoo for their very first Harvest camp - a Zoo Snooze!! Students enjoyed exploring the zoo for a few hours before starting their Snooze experience!
One of the memories that will stay with them was the roar of the lioness. Wherever they were, her roar could be heard. It reverberated throughout the zoo and was a reminder of how powerful these animals are in the wild. As the students explored the zoo, they discovered many interesting and quite entertaining facts about the animals. One fact about lions kept them on our guard! Did you know that lions can spray their urine backwards and it can reach up to a distance of 4 feet?
Although some students had tired legs, it was a great experience to see the animals up close and personal and to marvel at the attention to detail of their creation. From the huge cats, the curious meerkats and observing the blue tongue of the giraffe, to the antics of the squirrel monkeys scampering throughout their zoo enclosure. Each animal was unique and was a good reminder to the students how God has created them each with different talents and abilities for a special purpose.
After a few games and dinner, students got to have a close encounter with a slightly pricklier ‘Harriet’ (i.e. dog) and then go for a night walk around the zoo! They loved the night walk, especially seeing all of the nocturnal animals active! In the morning, they had a private guided walk around the zoo before it opened and even got to get close to the baby Giraffe and see the new tiger cubs! Students also loved exploring the SA Museum on Wednesday and enjoyed their Subway lunch!
It was a great camp and all of the students gained many memories, one of which was
an epic game of chasey on the amazing zoo playground! We at Harvest, feel blessed to have been able to provide this opportunity. A special thank you to our wonderful helpers - Mr Edwards and Mr Bennett, and also our lovely Year 6 SRC helpers: Hannah, Greeshma & Ruby!
