Science - Extracting DNA
Our Year 10 Science students are studying DNA this term. Every living creature stores its genetic information within the strands of this amazing molecule! Although it is usually invisible to the naked eye, our Year 10 students utilised their laboratory skills to successfully extract DNA from strawberries and kiwi fruit before making it clump together in visible, gooey strings!
      Automotive - New Equipment
Harvest’s Automotive Centre has expanded its capabilities with the addition of a tyre changer and digital wheel balancer. The new machines have created interest and have already given some students valuable experience assembling complicated machinery with limited instructions. The teacher, technician and students had to employ critical thinking and problem-solving
to complete the assembly. The new equipment will provide students with specialised skills that could see some go down the career pathway of becoming an Automotive Tyre Fitter.
    During Term 1 at Harvest,
Miss Hunting’s Year 1/2 Class focused on Narrative writing. The students have dedicated time to writing their own stories and recently had the opportunity to share their work with the Foundation Clifford class. This was a beautiful celebration of the student’s creativity and writing accomplishments for the term. Also, the illustrations created by the Year 1/2 students were admired by the Foundation students.
