Key Considerations

Urban Pathways, like many of its counterparts, has been required

to deal with unprecedented challenges over the last few years.

Expanding and diversifying funding

for salaries and benefits is a critical

consideration.

Staffing at Urban Pathways is
described as a crisis situation.

While the people we serve expressed
appreciation and gratitude for the

shelter, homes and supportive services
they received, some also experienced

frustration, disappointment, uncertainty

and, sometimes feeling unsafe.

While many staff are intrinsically
motivated by our mission and impact,

these are often not enough to ensure

employee retention and job satisfaction.

We are too dependent on efforts by
individual contributors rather than on

replicable systems and processes.

There are both a need and an
opportunity for Urban Pathways to

expand its visibility and leadership
role in New York and beyond in ways

we are currently unable to meet.
