Since 1975, Urban Pathways has engaged New York City’s most vulnerable residents –
people living on the streets or in areas unfit for human habitation – and has provided them
with “a way home.” By utilizing a low-demand, “housing first” approach and engaging
people “where they are at,” Urban Pathways strives to ensure that men and women
experiencing homelessness become stable, reclaim control over their lives, and rejoin the
community.
Urban Pathways’ programs incorporate a “housing first” approach to move individuals from
the streets as quickly as possible, while providing supportive and rehabilitative services.
Our programs serve more than 2,000 men and women each year, and include:
❖ Six Outreach Programs throughout New York City and at Newark Liberty International Airport.
❖ The Olivieri Drop-In Center in midtown Manhattan.
❖ Two Safe Haven transitional residences in midtown Manhattan and Brooklyn.
❖ Six Supportive Housing Programs, including extended-stay and permanent apartments for formerly-
homeless men and women. Two additional residences, for veterans and senior residents, are
scheduled to open within the next year.
❖ Job Readiness Training for clients who face barriers to employment.
❖ Urban Pathways partners with affordable housing developers to provide social services through its
Housing Partnership Program.
Urban Pathways, believing that “housing first” is the single most effective way to end
homelessness, has developed a continuum of care to ensure that individuals have housing
which meets their needs and provides the necessary supports so that they can live fulfilling
lives.
