The ISU Project Team has been regularly tapped by the DILG for the
conduct of CSIS in various LGUs in Isabela. The Institute had already conducted
CSIS in different municipalities and cities in Isabela, and Batanes as well.
Regular consultation engagements and technical assistance to LGUs and other
organizations have also been conducted. The sustainability of these activities was
being maintainedtoaidincommunity development.
A Project titled Valuation on LGU’s Emergency Measures in times of
Natural and Human-induced Disasters: A Citizen’s Perspective, has beenselectedas
oneof theprojectsunder theCY2016implementationof theDILGTechnical Assistance
Programfor Local Resource Institutes ontheUtilization of theCSISResults. Theproject
aimstogaugecitizens’ perception of local disaster risk, reduction, and management
(LDRRM) strategies of LGUs. Furthermore, it aims to offer feedback mechanisms and
helpprovide insight and guidance on how LDRRM may be integrated into
development strategies both in national and local governments.
Two years after the conduct
of thestudy, theDILG Central
Office has identified to
document the area on
Disaster Risk Reduction
Management in the 3 cities –
Cauayan, Ilagan, and Santiago.
This was done to communicate
and advocate the utilization of CSIS
results to improve public service
delivery by developing a
compendium on the best
practices conducted by LRI
grantees of theDILGTechnical
Assistance Program.
The result of the study was
presented during the
International Conferenceon
GovernanceandPartnership, and
Technology Exhibition on
ClimateChange Adaptation(CCA)
andDisaster RiskManagement in
Local Governance last October
23, 2018 at the Marco Paulo
Hotel, CauayanCity, Isabela.
