ADVOCACY
When you speak with one voice, people listen.
AS A MEMBER OF THE PADUCAH CHAMBER, you are part of the region’s largest
business advocacy organization. We all recognize the impact of strength in numbers
when it comes to taking on tough issues, sustaining a strong and diverse economy,
building consensus, and working together to move our community forward. It is a
critical time to be a part of an organization like the Paducah Area Chamber of
Commerce.
Your annual investment in the Paducah Chamber allows our organization and
leadership to continue to take our message to Frankfort and to the nation’s capital
for the purposes of seeking funding support, policy change, regulatory review, and
many other VITAL issues that affect the very nature of our local business climate.
If you want your specific concerns and voice to be heard, being a Chamber
member is a good way to do this.
This advocacy by the Chamber on your behalf has allowed us to achieve
significant success in many areas of business and community development.
A MAJOR focus of the Chamber has been to secure federal funds for cleanup at the
Paducah Department of Energy (DOE) site (formerly Paducah Gaseous Diffusion
Plant). Chamber representatives routinely meet with the DOE and our congressional
delegation to keep the pressure on for adequate funds for this project with the
intention of maintaining a workforce on site and a future for the complex.
Each September the Chamber takes a group of 30 or more members on the
annual DC Fly-In to meet with Kentucky representatives and senators along with
their staffs on Capitol Hill. These one-on-one sessions allow us to speak with
a strong voice for our members and to influence the decisions being made with
regard to business and industry. We also meet with members of a variety of federal
